Reception
Reception
Our reception area is spacious and comfortable for your cat or dog. You can choose a private spot to sit if your pet is nervous or a more central spot if your pet is very sociable. Please take the time to ask our receptionists any questions you may have about animal health care and browse our large selection of premium quality pet foods, skin care products, flea treatments, joint and nutritional supplements and animal health literature.
Laboratory 1
Laboratory 1
We have the latest technology blood chemistry, electrolyte, and cell counter on the market. This allows us to perform important blood tests on your pet with same-day results for preanesthetic, wellness, illness, or emergency situations. We also routinely run hormonal, urine, and fecal tests in our well-equipped veterinary lab. If we need to send out tests to an external lab, we are usually able to achieve next business day results.

Endoscopy
Endoscopy
We have a 103 cm, 7mm diameter fibre optic endoscope which allows us to visualize inside an animal’s airway, stomach, intestine or colon depending on size. Endoscopy is often preferable to surgery because it is less invasive and risky.
Walk on scales
Walk on scales
We have a large walk-on scale with a capacity of 400 pounds and 2 pediatric scales for pets under 15 pounds. We encourage our clients to have regular weigh-ins at no charge so we can document body weight and track it. This is often less stressful for a pet than a full physical exam from the veterinarian.
Treatment Area 1
Treatment Area 1
This is where a lot of the action happens daily in the hospital. We have a large treatment area (about 1200 sq ft) where we do most of our daily procedures on our patients including drawing laboratory samples, minor surgical procedures, ear flushes, cleaning wounds, bandaging wounds, and administering medications.

EKG's
EKG's
Electrocardiograms are done to track the electrical rhythm of the heart and identify abnormalities of conduction or arrhythmias. They can also help us determine if there is heart enlargement and what type of heart medication your pet may need. Most EKG’s are now sent via phone line or internet to a veterinary cardiologist.
Microchip Implants
Microchip Implants
This is a rice grain sized implant that is injected through a needle under your dog or cat’s skin while they are awake on a routine visit. It contains a digital identification that is unique for each chip and will be registered to permanently identify your pet. There are companies that have a 24/7 monitoring station in case your pet ever gets lost. Veterinary hospitals, spca’s, and animal shelters have scanners to detect microchip.
Visiting Room
Visiting Room
If your pet is hospitalized, we are happy to arrange visits depending on the nature and severity of the illness. We will generally need to book a time in the afternoon and clear a room for a private quiet visit. Some pets become very distressed when the owner leaves after a visit since they do not understand when they will be reunited. It is important to consider this before you arrange a visit.
Examination Room 1
Examination Room 1
We have three exam rooms where our veterinarians can meet you and your pet and perform a complete examination. Each room is built with different size pets in mind in order for them to be more comfortable and less stressed with the visit.

X-Ray
X-Ray
This is a very useful diagnostic procedure in veterinary medicine. Our technicians are well trained to take x-rays on all shapes and sizes of pets. They will use the gentlest manner and technique to obtain a high quality x-ray which helps the veterinarian determine if there are any abnormalities. We have a dedicated x-ray room which is quiet and calm. Sometimes sedation or anesthesia is necessary for a particular view or angle needed to x-ray a pet. Most of the time the veterinarian will discuss and view x-rays with the owner.
Blood Pressure 1
Blood Pressure 1
Measurements are difficult to determine in pets because of their relatively deep arteries and small size. We use a Doppler ultrasound machine to monitor blood pressure during anesthesia or for animals that suffer from high blood pressure.

Pharmacy
Pharmacy
Our veterinary pharmacy is well-stocked with the vast majority of veterinary medications our pet may need. We have access to new and unique forms of drugs to make it easier to give to medicate your pet. These include flavoured chews, liquids, and powders. Some medications are also available in transdermal gels. The form of medication is especially important for cats who really don’t like to be told what to eat. We also have a selection of high quality natural products and supplements.
Dentistry 1
Dentistry 1
This is a rapidly developing scope of veterinary medicine since we are discovering the major impact a healthy mouth has for a pet. Most pets would benefit from a yearly dental cleaning. Only veterinarians have the training to perform a proper dental cleaning under general anesthesia. Groomers cannot clean under your pet’s gum line where bacteria invade to produce painful, decaying teeth. Only your veterinarian has the expertise to diagnose and treat tooth abscesses, fractures, tumours, gum disease, and cavities. We have high speed dental drills, ultrasonic tooth scalers, low speed prophy polishers, and veterinary technicians who are trained to help with a routine or complicated dental procedure.

Surgery 1
Surgery 1
We have a spacious, modern, well-equipped surgery suite where we can perform routine or complicated soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. We are able to perform most surgeries at our hospital and refer only a small proportion to specialists. All patients are monitored during anesthesia by a live technician and equipment that checks respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. All pets having general surgery are examined by a veterinarian before surgery and are placed on an intravenous catheter and given intravenous fluids and electrolytes to help reduce any risk. Before, during, and after surgery we are very conscious of always providing adequate pain control to a pet to allow a more comfortable recovery.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound
This is a very useful diagnostic tool to view the inside of abdominal organs, hearts, and eyes. There is virtually no risk to the patient and ultrasound can usually be performed with the pet fully awake or lightly sedated. We generally send our ultrasound images on-line to a specialist who can help our veterinarians spot any abnormalities.
